Background

Cambridge-based Adder Technology (“Adder”) designs and manufactures an advanced range of KVM switches, extenders and IP solutions which enable the reliable control of local, remote and global IT systems. In the spring of 2019, the company was looking to recruit a Junior Support Engineer – EMEA, to be based in Shanghai, China to support EMEA regional managers.

What was the challenge?

Despite having a local team in Shanghai, Adder preferred to make this hiring decision from the HQ and requested the support from Crayfish.io (“Crayfish”) to help with the recruitment process.  They had previously used Crayfish to source other candidates and were pleased with the service.

How did Crayfish help?

Search, Selection & Shortlisting:

Crayfish.io’s search process involved a pro-active search for candidates using multiple channels and talent databases, including arranging job ads from China’s two largest job platforms, 51job.com and Zhaopin.com. CVs/profiles of promising candidates were presented to Adder for consideration. 

Crayfish.io then selected and shortlisted suitable candidates for first interviews by Crayfish team / associates. During the first interviews, Crayfish.io evaluated candidates’ communication skills, English/Chinese fluency, and relevant industry experience.

Short-listing for interviews:

Crayfish.io then provided Adder recommendation of a short-list of suitable candidates and arranged both telephone and face-to-face interviews for Adder.

Negotiation and offer-making:

Finally, Crayfish.io assisted and facilitated the communication and negotiation between Adder and the shortlisted candidates up to and including offer of the position to the selected candidate.

Adder was able to hire the ideal candidate they had wanted, within the budget and the timescale as planned.
